| What is Botox |
FDA Approval In April 2002, the FDA was satisfied by its review of studies indicating that Botox® reduced the severity of frown lines for up to 120 days and approved the drug. It is under review for approval to treat brow furrow, migraine headache, chronic tension headache, upper limb spasticity, juvenile cerebral palsy, and hyperhidrosis.
Botox® is the most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedure performed. In the year 2003 there were 2,272,080 botox® injections performed. What kind of wrinkles do Botox® injections treat? Wrinkles that are caused by muscle contraction, such as frown lines, crow's feet, forehead creases, and neck bands can be safely and successfully treated with Botox®.
What to expect at your visit
You will be asked to contract the facial muscles (frowning, squinting) that affect the area to be treated. This will help your surgeon determine the best location for the injection.
The injection is normally injected directly into the muscle with a tiny needle.
The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery makes these suggestions:
- Ask questions and be informed about the benefits and risks involved in the procedure.
- Choose a medical setting using sterile techniques. Necessary equipment should be available to respond to any potential problems.
- Avoid alcohol and remain upright for several hours following the procedure.
Results of Botox® Injections
Results are normally seen within a few days. The results generally last 3-4 months and require occasional touchups. To see before and after pictures.
Recovery after Botox®
There is generally no recovery period. You can go directly back to your normal activities.
Safety and Side Effects
Botox® is proven to be safe and effective. Over the past 20 years, Botulinum Toxin Type A has been evaluated in more than 200 studies. There are no documented systemic complications associated with Botox® injections. Botox® has been widely used for more than 11 years with over 1 million people. |

| What is Juvederm |
Juvederm is one of the newest, "next generation" substances in cosmetic surgery known as "dermal fillers" or "injectable fillers." Today, more patients want quick results that will show immediate results with little, or no, downtime. Juvederm has become extremely popular! The substance is often used by Medical Spa’s under the care of a Medical Doctor, dermatologist and plastic surgeon. Made of a natural substance known as hyaluronic acid, Juvederm is FDA approved and -- like Restylane and Botox -- is one of the fastest growing non-surgical aesthetic procedures in the United States.
JUVÉDERM® injectable gel (including JUVÉDERM® Ultra, JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus, JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC, and JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus XC) is indicated for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as Nasolabial folds).
Treatment side effects are usually mild to moderate, lasting 7 days or less, and include temporary injection-site reactions such as redness, pain, firmness, swelling, and bumps. JUVÉDERM® is not for people with severe allergies.
Juvederm is often used to:
- Plump up folds that run from the bottom of the nose to the corners of the mouth
- Fill in the prominent vertical wrinkles, (the "11s") between the eyebrows
- Augment the hollows under the eyes
- Reduce the "Marionette lines," the downturned creases at the corner of the mouth
- Scar correction
- Augment thin or aging lips
Hyaluronic acid is important because one of its chief functions in the human body is maintaining skin volume and hydration. In medicine, hyaluronic acid has been used to ease joint pain, treat wounds and also for eye surgery. In was used for the first time in 1996 in Europe for facial tissue augmentation.
What are the Benefits of Juvederm?
Most cosmetic procedures are used to correct the ( item’s mentioned above) that involve surgery, which has its own set of risks and drawbacks. While complications rarely occur at the hands of experienced, board-certified Medical Doctors, other drawbacks include going under anesthesia, dealing with pain and bandages etc. It also takes away required time from work and other activities for healing.
However, an injectable filler like Juvederm can accomplish the same facial rejuvenation, so the patient can leave the doctor's office immediately and fully resume his or her normal activities by the next day. Moreover, the cost is less than surgery too!
Where Do I Begin?
Schedule a consultation with Clinical Skin Care Center at (817) 329-5015. During consultations, your Medical Aesthetician or Doctor can learn more about each patient and vice versa. Moreover, the consultation visit gives the doctor a chance to evaluate the current state of the patient's skin and face while discussing options that will help the patient achieve the best desired look. Consultation visits, also give patients the opportunity to talk about their goals and expectations for their injections, ask any questions they might have, and look at before and after pictures of previous patients who had the same procedure. Your visit will also allow them to tell you about the benefits, precautions, treatment response, adverse reactions, if any, and other important issues. |

Wrinkles/Aging Face |
The skin is made up of 3 layers - the epidermis, dermis (dermal layer), and subcutaneous tissue.
The effects of aging on the dermal layer are significant. Not only does the dermal layer thin, but also less collagen is produced, and the elastin fibers that provide elasticity wear out. These changes in the scaffolding of the skin cause the skin to wrinkle and sag. Also, sebaceous glands get bigger but produce less sebum, and the number of sweat glands decreases. Both of these changes lead to skin dryness, which leads to wrinkles. These conditions can be treated at Clinical Skin Care Center utilizing the “World’s 1st” non-laser fractional re-surfacing FRACtional-CELLular with Matrix RF treatment.
In the subcutaneous layer the fat cells get smaller with age. This leads to more noticeable wrinkles and sagging, as the fat cells cannot "fill in" the damage from the other layers. Clinical Skin Care Center uses Matrix IR Wrinkle Reduction to plump-up the skin layers, by increasing collagen production at the cellular level, reducing wrinkles.
Exposure to ultraviolet light, UVA or UVB, from sunlight accounts for 90% of the symptoms of premature skin aging. The amount of damage to the skin caused by the sun is determined by the total lifetime amount of radiation exposure and the person's pigment protection. Clinical Skin Care Center offer the finest sun block available with the Jan Marini SPF 30 Sunscreen.
Clinical Skin Care Center offers many wrinkle reduction and prevention treatments to address the other causes of wrinkles such as Free Radicals, Hormone changes, Muscle Use (repetitive expressions, squinting, frowning, etc.) and gravity. |

| Loose Sagging Skin |
As we age, our skin loses its tightness and elasticity and instead of following the shape of the face closely, it starts to sag into folds. With significant weight gain and subsequent loss, your skin is stretched losing elasticity.
When young and slim, our skin is elastic enough to shrink and stretch with changes in weight and muscle tone. As we age, our skin loses this ability, and once stretched, it stays that way and forms folds or jowls.
There are surgical ways to tighten skin. The excess is removed and what remains is stitched in its new position, tightly covering the tissue underneath. Some examples are a jowl lift, a neck-lift, and eyelift treatments. But all surgery brings risk. At Clinical Skin Care Center, we prefer to use non-surgical methods. |

| Hand Rejuvenation |
Most women focus anti-aging efforts on their face, but one of the most exposed and neglected areas of the body are the hands. Hands are often left unprotected from harsh elements and over time develop dark spots, freckles and thin, crepe-like skin that appears sunken around the delicate bones, making women appear older than they actually are.
To help renew and rejuvenate aging hands, Clinical Skin Care Center has developed a clinically proven Hand Rejuvenation Treatment that restores youthful softness and volume. Our Hand Rejuvenation Treatment helps add fullness to bony hands, dramatically lightens age spots, improves textural irregularities and thickens skin by increasing the production of collagen, leaving you with a pair of younger, smoother, more beautiful hands that will never reveal your true age! For home use, Jan Marini's Age Intervention® for Hands is recommended.
- Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
- Refirme Skin Tightening
- FRACtional-CELLular with Matrix RF

| Frequently Asked Questions |
Who is a good candidate for the Hand Rejuvenation?
Hand Rejuvenation can be performed on anyone wanting to improve the appearance of mature-looking hands. The treatment adds youthful fullness, improves the appearance of crepe-like skin, lightens freckles and age spots and helps to thicken the skin by increasing collagen production in the dermis.
How many treatments will I need?
The Hand Rejuvenation Treatment can be performed in just five quick visits to Clinical Skin Care Center with subsequent treatments performed two or three times each year to maintain the youthful result.
What can I expect following the Hand Rejuvenation Treatment?
The treated area may have a flushed or sunburned appearance, you may experience slight flaking of the skin and you will have to take extra precautions to protect the treated area from the sun. Some people may experience slight redness and swelling, which typically subsides in a few days.
What type of aftercare is required?
There is minimal aftercare involved with the Hand Rejuvenation Treatment. Jan Marini Age Intervention® for Hands cream should be used for continued improvement and maintenance. Immediately following the treatment, the hands will be sensitive to UV light and will need to be shaded from direct sun exposure. Sunscreen should be applied daily to help prevent any additional damage to the skin. |
